Unlike anything I've been to or participated in, the experience of the lanterns was breath taking to watch the night sky light up with thousands of points of light as everyone’s lanterns took off and floats high in the sky especially knowing that everyone had written a special message of loss, hope or live on their lanterns by: Cindy Rodriguez – VSM
Beyond the Strip in Las Vegas located in the Mojave Desert 25 miles south of Las Vegas on the Jean Dry Lake bed was one of the most encouraging and spiritual experiences, I have had at an event "Cindy Rodriguez Publisher for Vegas Scene Magazine".
Anita my guest at the event said, it was amazing to be part of the experience. She said it was unlike anything I've been to or participated in, the experience of the lanterns was breath taking to watch the night sky light up with thousands of points of light as everyone’s lanterns took off and floats high in the sky especially knowing that everyone had written a special message of loss, hope or live on their lanterns. I spoke to the founder of this event , who helped launched a previous well known event “the color run”, the founder of Electric run, and was part of Fun Run and many other events. What led him 6 years ago to start this event was his need in his life for a calmness, to slow down a bit but still be involved in something big and positive. After going to Thailand and releasing a lantern there, he came up with the idea of getting an event together similar to his experience in Thailand. His idea was to get over 20 thousand people together to an event to experience a sense of peace like a yoga studio., with the elements extra layers of entertainment of lived music, good food in a music festival. I have to say, I think you completed the task! I felt calm, but full of positive energy. The band was on point, and the music fit the theme of the lantern show perfectly. His task for the event was for the event to be simple, sole full, and peaceful!
On Friday, the RiSE festival took to the Mojave desert's Dry Jean Lake Bed for three life-changing nights. Each evening, just after sunset, guests gathered around the center stage to prepare the lantern send-off. Lanterns are released into the atmosphere simultaneously to create an unbelievable visual experience. Once given the green light by the on-stage DJ, they lit up the night sky with thousands of lanterns floating above the crowd to the tunes of relaxing, transient tunes. The response by all was overwhelming and their lanterns illuminated the desert, truly putting stars in the sky. In this one-of-a-kind event, each lantern meant something different to everyone. Attendees said goodbye to loved ones, manifested new beginnings and created a spiritual connection with one another. Soothing instrumentals proceeded to play as additional lanterns took off for two hours after the initial release.
